Needles High School will host its formal Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accreditation Visit on March 30-April 2, 2008. WASC is one of six regional associations in the United States that accredits public and private schools, colleges and universities. The Needles WASC region covers schools in California, Hawaii and many areas in the Western Pacific. While WASC works in conjunction with the California Department of Education, it is an independent agency.
The administration and staff at NHS have been preparing the self-study report over the last school year, gearing up for the spring 2008 visit. Staff members, students, parents, and community members have participated in this study as stakeholders in the accreditation of Needles High School. From March 30 through April 2, 2008, four members of the WASC Visitation Committee will attend classes, talk to students, teachers and parents, and have lunch in the cafeteria. When not visiting locations on campus, the team will be preparing its report on the status and effectiveness of Needles High School.
The WASC team will arrive Sunday, March 30th to a reception and welcome in the NHS Kitchen; they will meet with parents and have a formal tour of the school site.
